In this 16th and last ALADIN-HIRLAM Newsletter, are presented ALADIN and HIRLAM activities (national and project reports) in 2020. This Tour ends with a look back at 30 year working together in ALADIN, and in a close and more formalised collaboration with HIRLAM during the last 3 years. Martina TUDOR from Croatian Met Service (new LACE PM since April 2018) successfully passed her PhD on "Improvements in the operational forecast of detrimental weather conditions in the numerical limited area model ALADIN" on December 10, 2018. Congratulations Martina !

The concept of the ALADIN project was proposed by Météo-France in 1990, with the aim of building a mutually beneficial collaboration with the National Meteorological Services of Central and Eastern Europe. This new aladin website has been developed with SPIP , a publishing system for the Internet. SPIP consists of a bundle of files allowing to take advantage of a number of automated tasks: multi-user management, laying out articles without the need to use HTML, easily modifying the structure of the site. As decided during the Joint 19th ALADIN Workshop & HIRLAM ASM in Utrech in May 2009, the ALADIN website offers enhanced links with HIRLAM, LACE and the so-called GMAPDOC (ARPEGE/ALADIN/AROME documentation) websites. These websites are based on different CMS (Content Management System) but enhanced links are possible. Up-to-now, the exchanges between ALADIN-GMAPDOC-HIRLAM are wider than those with RC-LACE, due to the RC-LACE website CMS. Search engine : the ALADIN website offers now the (…)
