Since the 1 june 2016, the SURFEX code is freely available (Open-SURFEX) using a CECILL-C Licence (a French equivalent to the L-GPL licence), excepted for : the GAUSSIAN grid, LFI and FA I/O formats and the dr HOOK tool


  • The Open-SURFEX code package can be download here:
    This Open-SURFEX will be updated at relatively low frequency (each 3 to 6 months).

  • SURFEX Git repository:
    The access to the GIT repository is limited to developers.
    • Up to version 9.0.0, we invite you to follow the procedure to get a GIT account
    • Starting with SURFEX 9.1.0 and above, the repository is now on GitHub. Acces is limited to contributors. If you are developer, please contact the code manager of your group (GMGEC, ACCORD, VILLE, CEN, etc...) to have access to the fork of this group.

    To install SURFEX, please follow indications on this page.
