CONCORDIASI 2010

The CONCORDIASI experiment is part of the International Polar Year (IPY 2007-2008).

Its primary objective is to study the assimilation of raw radiances collected by the IASI instrument (onboard the polar satellite MetOp-1)
above the icy surface of Antarctica. To this end, the campaign involves the deployment of stratospheric drifting balloons designed by CNES. Some of these balloons are equipped with the Driftsonde (NCAR   / EOL), which allows dropsondes to be dropped on demand. The majority of these sensors is dedicated to the comparison with the profiles of temperature and humidity reconstructed from IASI   data. A quarter of these dropsondes will be available to study the predictability in Antarctica and lower latitudes. Therefore it is planned to deploy these sondes depending on sensitive areas that will be computed with the KFS   at Météo France and with singular vectors at ECMWF  .
