General Information

Meteorological data measured on-board commercial aircraft over the FASTEX area.
  • Description
  • AIREP data ("traditional" transmission). Resolution: 10 degree longitude data.
  • ASDAR (Aircraft to Satellite Data Relay) data. The ASDAR system is installed on a limited number of aircraft, mostly British Airways and KLM, that will not be increased. High-resolution data, from 15 km (and even less during take-offs for instance), to 200 km
  • ACARS (Aeronautical-radio-incorporated Communication Adressing and Reporting System ) data. The ACARS system exists on all newest aircraft. Meteorological data are collected over North-America and Australia essentially. High-resolution data, from 15 km (and even less during take-offs for instance), to 200 km
  • MOZAIC (Measurement of OZone by AIrbus in service airCraft) data.

  • Commercial aircraft data sent to the GTS and received at Meteo-France/Toulouse.
