 Research themes

Our focus is on deep convection in midlatitudes, in particular thunderstorms and high precipitations:

  • improving our understanding of convective events: thunderstorms, hail, Mediterranean events... and extreme precipitation
  • nowcasting, ensemble prediction and probabilistic forecasts at kilometric resolution
  • data assimilation for prediction of convective events, using radars, satellite sensors and connected objets
  • atmosphere-ocean-wave interactions
  • impact-oriented forecasting: driving road surface models, coastal surge models, and hydrological models for flash-flood prediction.
