The FASTEX Data Policy


  • Data Access

    Access to FASTEX Data Archive will be consistent with WMO Resolution 40 Accordingly, use of the FASTEX Data Archive will be unrestricted for scientists who utilize the data for research and educational purposes.
    The use or redistribution of data for commercial purposes may engender certain restrictions that will vary depending on the source and type of data under the guidelines of WMO Resolution 40.

    Access to the FASTEX Central Archive at Météo-France/CNRM (Centre National de Recherches Météorologiques) in Toulouse may be either "on -line" via Internet or "off-line" via physical media (e.g., CD-ROM, DAT tapes, Exabyte tapes). On-line access of FASTEX Central Archive products will be available free of charge for qualified scientists (i.e., participating investigators or collaborators). For off-line access, the cost of the first copy of a data set is free of charge for FASTEX PIs, and for other qualified scientists (and subsequent copies for PIs), the cost will not exceed the cost of reproduction and delivery.

    For other archive sites, qualified scientists and PIs may be charged the cost of reproduction and delivery for all requests.

  • Data Quality

    The FASTEX Data Archive sites provide a "best" effort in data validation. However, data sets are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind.

  • Data Attribution

    In all cases, proper acknowledgements should be given in publications that utilize FASTEX data to specific scientists and institutions that made the collection of data possible.

    Where appropriate, all authors considering publication of FASTEX related research results should offer co-authorship to investigators that had a primary role in the collection of data utilized in the study.

    Information about the use and attribution of each set of data will be included in the README file sent with the data.
