How to contribute to the next Newsletter

As decided during the 13rd ALADIN workshop, contributions should be sent on Open Office format : this free software (http://www.openoffice.org/)is available on Linux and Windows and offers user friendly for both word and latex fans, equations allowed (in-line or latex-like).

In order to simplify the editorial job of the Newsletter and at the same time to make it more accessible, more quickly, some guidelines for contribution to the Newsletters were given during the 14th ALADIN workshop.

Jean Maziejewski, as the new editor, has introduced some minor changes to the Newsletter, amongst which the systematic use of two style sheets. For oncoming Newsletters, you are kindly invited to use them. It goes without saying that remarks and suggestions are welcome. From now on, deadline for the Newsletter are 22 of July and 22 of January. The only date you have to remember is the 22 of January, because it's Jean birthday, then 6 months later. Don't wait till the last moment to send your contributions to Jean. However, you will receive reminders in due course. About the style sheets, one is called Report and should only be used for reports, the other is called ARTICLE and should be used for everything else.

How to use the REPORT style sheet

  • For each headings use TITLE 1.
  • For each sub headings use TITLE 2, sub sub heading TITLE 3 and so on.
  • For the text, BODY OF TEXT.
  • For Place & date, use FINAL/END FORMULAE.
  • In the HEAD PAGE, after Place & date Toulouse date ... (Final/end formulae) You will find, Part 7: Data assimilation, Variational computations If this part doesn't apply to your article, click on it and CHOOSE the Part which fits your paper.
  • Try as often as possible to include figures in the text, it will save searching for different files and it will be easier to print and read.

  • How to use the ARTICLE style sheet

  • Open article.sxw.
